Forms, navigation, and scripts.

This page showcases many of the popular forms and scripts used for web site functions. These include navigational, special purpose, and data collection scripts. Depending on your browser, some will work for you and some won't (none should crash your browser!). The purpose of showing them here is so that you can see the differences between them and choose the ones that will fulfill your needs.

Navigational scripts.

Dropdown Menu (CGI)
A simple dropdown CGI menu saves page space and, so, is particularly useful for larger sites or as a secondary menu system. CGI scripted menus are preferable to other scripting methods because they can be used by the greatest majority of browsers. This JumpNcount Perl CGI script was written by Ron F Woolley, Melbourne Australia, and includes features such as logging of link clicks and administration tool.

Dropdown Menu (Javascript)
Like the CGI dropdown menu, this Javascript menu allows for compact presentation of the web site menu. However, Javascript is not recognized by all browsers so this should be considered when deciding upon a menu system.

Menu in Second Window (Javascript)
If your browser is capable, clicking on the hyperlink below will launch a second browser window showing a full index of this web site. Otherwise, it will do nothing at all.

Multiple or Hierarchal Menu (Javascript)
If you use Netscape Communicator 4 or MS Internet Explorer 4, passing your mouse over the first link (to the right) or pressing the second link will reveal a menu with multiple levels. Though quite appealing in function and design, this is perhaps the most restrictive menu script at present due to the limited browser support. I would strongly recommend also using a more widely supported menu system in conjuction. This script is courtesy of the Javascript experts at Webreference.com

Pass mouse over this link.

Special Purpose

Calculator (Javascript)
If your browser is javascript enabled, a calculator for calculating the fees for search engines and directories registrations will appear in a table below. This type of conditional appearance of page elements is also done through javascipt and ensures that the surfer only sees page features that they can use.

Data collection.

Online Database (CGI)
The following form captures information as entered, mails a copy to the responder and Pixelate Performance, and then automatically updates an online database file. Complete the following form as you like and press the Submit Information button. When you return here, you can press this link to view the current database file (then use your back button to return to this page). Note that the data is pipe deliminated so it may not appear in formatted columns.
